However, the police had registered a case in this regard and also arrested the husband.
In fact, on Tuesday, a large number of women took to the streets of Manali over the death of a woman from Balsari village of Manali. Hundreds of women from the valley took out a protest rally in Manali city on Tuesday and surrounded the police station. During this time, when the police did not come for talks for a long time, Mahila Shakti’s anger flared up further.
Why did women protest in Manali?
Actually, BK week 3 December, the dead body of Manali woman Kalpana was found hanging in her house. The woman’s maternal home is in Gojra village. In a complaint to the police, the family had accused their in-laws of torturing their daughter. Kalpana was married to Ravi Thakur of Balsari village in the year 2021. Both have a son and daughter. However, the dispute between Kalpana and Ravi started after marriage itself. It is alleged that her husband and in-laws used to beat her and also withdrew money from her account. Later, Kalpana also came to her maternal home, but after convincing her, she was sent back to her in-laws’ house.
Kalpana’s dead body was found in the house
On December 3, Kalpana’s body was found hanging on the third floor of the house. Family members allege that Kalpana’s mother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and her husband are responsible. Although the husband has been arrested by the police, now the family members are adamant on demanding the arrest of other people and protests are being held on this matter.
