Delhi IGI Airport AMSS Glitch: Thousands of flights have been affected due to IP based AMSS technical glitch in ATC of IGI Airport. This glitch has been fixed late last night, but it may take some time for everything to become normal.
Delhi IGI Airport AMSS Glitch: On Friday, due to a technical glitch in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) of Delhi Air Traffic Control (ATC), the system of many airports in the country including Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport completely collapsed. Talking only about IGI Airport, due to this technical glitch, passengers of about 1007 flights had to face delays. Of these 1007 flights, there were about 573 departures and 295 take-offs.
According to flight tracking website flightradar24, on Friday i.e. November 7, there were about 79 percent departure and 41 percent arrival delays. Due to a technical glitch in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), there was an atmosphere of chaos not only at Delhi’s IGI Airport, but the same flame also reached other airports including Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai, Chennai. After which, Mumbai Airport and Jaipur Airport had to issue passenger advisory.
This problem started affecting other airports also
Mumbai Airport’s passenger advisory said that flight operations have been affected due to a technical glitch in the Automatic Message Switching System that supports the ATC system of Delhi Airport. The concerned agencies and technical teams are busy solving this problem as soon as possible. Due to this glitch, there is a possibility of delay in many flights. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for latest flight information and updated schedules.
AMSS was cheating for two days
A similar advisory was also issued by Jaipur Airport late on Friday evening. Passenger advisories continued till late night from Delhi Airport and all the airlines, but the technical glitch present in AMSS remained the same. Now talking about this technical glitch, it did not come suddenly on Friday morning. In fact, this glitch was causing problems in Delhi ATC for two consecutive days. Despite being aware of this flaw, this problem could not be fixed in time.
The real problem was in IP based AMSS
On this issue, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) says that due to a technical glitch in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) at IGI Airport, there was a delay in the processing of flight plan messages necessary for air traffic control. This glitch was found in the IP-based AMSS system on 6 November 2025. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) was added to remove glitches. Also, flight plans can be processed manually and the ATC system continues to work without interruption.
The problem was finally fixed late at night
According to AAI, the technical glitch in the AMSS system was rectified late in the night. At present, the team of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) and AAI are monitoring the system by staying in ATC. The AMSS system is back up and running normally. However, there is some message processing backlog left in the backend, so delays may continue till late at night.
