US Sanctions India: The administration of US President Donald Trump has imposed sanctions on Indian entities and individuals who are involved in the sale of petroleum and petroleum products to Iran. The administration said funds from this trade were used to support Tehran’s regional terrorist groups and purchase weapons systems that pose a “direct threat to the United States.”
Ban imposed on these companies
The US State and Treasury Departments have imposed sanctions on “shipping networks” that finance the Iranian regime’s “malign activities” through illegal oil sales. Besides, sanctions have also been imposed on those airlines and their associated companies which send weapons and supplies to Iran-backed terrorist organizations.
The Indian citizens and companies included in this sanction list include Zair Hussain Iqbal Hussain Sayyed, Zulfikar Hussain Rizvi Sayyed, Maharashtra-based ‘RN Ship Management Private Limited’ and Pune-based ‘TR6 Petro India LLP’.
US State Department statement
The Ministry of External Affairs said it is designating a total of 17 entities, individuals and vessels based in several countries, including India, Panama and Seychelles. Who are involved in the sale of petroleum and petroleum products of Iran. Along with this, the Finance Department is nominating 41 institutions, individuals, ships and aircraft.
So that the crackdown on Iran’s oil and petrochemical exports can be intensified and the financial networks that support Iran’s illicit activities can be disrupted. The State Department said on Thursday that the money generated from this oil trade is used to support Iran-backed regional terrorist groups and buy weapons systems, which pose a direct threat to US forces and allied countries.
