Ranchi Crime News: By weaving a web of big dreams, greed of low interest and fake documents, a couple defrauded businessmen of crores of rupees. The real story of ‘Bunty and Babli’ has come to light in Ranchi. This interstate fraud gang, which kept changing locations for a long time, has finally been exposed by the Kanke police.

Ranchi: Kanke police caught interstate fraud gang, couple arrested

Ranchi. Kanke police station of Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, has busted an interstate fraud gang and arrested a couple. Like the movie Bunty Aur Babli, their targets were big businessmen whom they used to promise large amounts of loans at low interest and low processing fees and extort huge amounts of money. Bunty and Babli had cheated Rs 70 lakh in Kanke police station area of Ranchi, after which both of them were arrested. The couple caught by Ranchi Police, Angela Kujur alias Angela Kujur and Shivaji Patil alias Amit Mahato, belongs to the interstate fraud gang. While exposing their exploits, Ranchi Police has arrested them. According to the police, both the accused used to lure big businessmen by luring them with huge loans at low interest and low processing fees. Police suspect that the number of their victims may be much higher.

Rural SP Praveen Pushkar said that investigation has revealed that the couple has defrauded at least two businessmen in Odisha and Jharkhand of more than Rs 1 crore. It is being told that Sarojkant Jha, a businessman from Ramgarh district, was duped by Angela Kujur alias Angela Kujur and Shivaji Patil alias Amit Mahato. The businessman had lodged a complaint in the Kanke police station in this matter. According to the complaint lodged, Angela Kujur and Shivaji Patil had promised to get a loan at low interest rate to the businessman and in return they had extorted Rs 70 lakh from the businessman. At the same time, due to non-availability of loan, the land was given a fake agreement, even though that land was not theirs.

Fraud in other cases

Giving information about the case, Rural SP Praveen Pushkar said that police investigation revealed that a businessman working with a youth named Sudam Barik from Orissa was duped of about Rs 42 lakh. From the security point of view, he was given a fake agreement for someone else’s land in Ranchi Kathitand, although that land was also fake. After the incident, both of them kept changing their locations like Bunty and Babli. However, the police continued to raid them and finally they were arrested and sent to jail.

Police investigation continues

However, the target of this couple, residents of Sukurhutu in Kanke police station area of Ranchi, were big businessmen. The investigation so far has revealed that they have defrauded two businessmen of more than Rs 1 crore, but the police suspect that there are many more victims. At present the police are talking about taking them on remand and finding out more information. On the lines of Bunty and Babli, these accused kept changing their locations continuously after the incident, but their cunningness did not work in front of the vigilance of the police. At present, both have been sent to judicial custody and by taking them on remand, links are being added to other cases related to the gang.
