Rampur Famous Samosa: Aloo Samosa of Shri Ram Sweets has created a special identity in Shahbad tehsil of Rampur. Rohit Kumar Ram has been selling samosas made with simple spices for 25 years. These samosas, which are available for Rs 8, are sold daily and people come from far and wide to eat them.
If you ever go to Chandausi Chauraha Post Office in Shahabad Tehsil of Rampur, you will always see a different atmosphere there. Crowds of people stand near the shops since morning and the biggest crowd is in front of Shri Ram Sweets. The special thing is that the samosa sold here is made only of potatoes, but the taste is such that people come to eat it again and again. Shop owner Rohit Kumar Ram says that he has been making the same samosas for the last 25 years.
Rohit says that his samosa is absolutely plain and simple. There is no strange flavor in it, only potatoes are stuffed with home-made spices. He prepares the spices himself at home so that the taste is always fresh and good. To fry the samosas, Rohit uses good and clean oil, which makes the samosas crisp and tasty.
When he started selling samosa 25 years ago, its price was only Rs 1. Today the same samosa is sold for Rs 8, but despite this the crowd does not reduce. Around 5 to 6000 samosas are sold here throughout the day. This number tells how many people come every day to enjoy this taste. Not only the people of Rampur but also the people of Delhi, Haryana, Moradabad, Bareilly and Bijnor eat samosas while passing through here and some people even buy samosas for themselves and pack them for their family and friends.
The special thing about the shop is that it is on the roadside, hence people stand there and eat hot samosas. This samosa has become famous not only in Rampur but also in the surrounding districts. According to Rohit, he always tries to make samosa with the old style and taste. So that people always remember the taste of everyday.
