The controversy that started in Rajasthan over celebrating Shaurya Diwas on the anniversary of Babri demolition on 6th December, took on a political colour, but in the end the matter reached an alleged fake order. The news spread about an order issued by the Education Department late on Saturday night, in which instructions were given to celebrate Bravery Day on December 6 in all government and private schools. However, within just 12 hours, the government backfooted and not only stopped these programs but also gave a new twist the very next day by saying that the order that went viral was fake.
It was claimed in the viral order that on the instructions of Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Director of Secondary Education Sitaram Jat had issued instructions to celebrate December 6 as Bravery Day. The proposed programs included special prayer meeting with Bhajan-Aarti of Lord Ram, Shaurya Yatra, competitions on Ram Mandir movement, painting and cultural presentations. The order even mentioned inviting special guests.
This order was shared in the media WhatsApp group of the Education Minister at around 9 pm on Saturday night, after which a few hours on Sunday morning a message came from the Education Minister that due to the examinations, the programs of December 6 are being postponed for the time being. His argument was that examinations were going on in schools on 5-6 December, hence other activities were not possible.
But the controversy deepened when a denial was issued by the Director of Education from the Chief Minister’s Office, in which it was clearly stated that the department had not issued any such order and the viral letter is completely fake. Questions began to arise that if the order was fake, then how was it issued in the Education Minister’s media group and then why did it have to be announced to be postponed?
On this whole issue, Congress took a dig at the government and said that it is not the government but a ‘circus’ is running. The party alleged that the government was resorting to communalism to divert attention from its failures, and the alleged order for Shaurya Diwas was part of the same strategy.
