The foundation said that many links are being attached to the message being sent on WhatsApp. Such links take users to a common URL. In this, every link has been sent in many messages. It has been found that the same link is being used for all other types of links. These links can be redirected through WhatsApp in every language and every language except English. Each link leads the user to a single source. However, a link is moving to another URL and a new IP address, which belongs to the Chinese company Alibaba Cloud.

The Cyberspace Foundation stated that an error code is displayed in the Chinese language when the URL is manipulated. Investigation found that its domain name is registered in China. The foundation has claimed that the IP address of this link is 47.75.111.165. It has been traced to Alibaba Cloud, Hong Kong and China. This news has come at a time when WhatsApp is asking its users to consent to share their personal data with Facebook. If not, the WhatsApp account of the users will be closed after 8 February 2021.
