With winter in Delhi NCR, the air has started becoming poisonous again. In Faridabad, Ballabhgarh and Gurugram, AQI was between 150–240, causing irritation to eyes and difficulty in breathing due to dust and smoke. The problem is especially faced by those people who leave home every day for job, college or market. Many people are going out wearing masks so that bad air does not reach the lungs directly.
Faridabad: The air condition in Delhi-NCR has started worsening again with winter. It has now become common to feel slight irritation in the eyes, sore throat and feeling of heaviness in breathing as soon as you go out in the morning. Layer of dust and smoke is clearly visible in the air from Faridabad to Gurugram. Monitors installed in different areas are also indicating the same danger that the air is not safe at present.
The air in these areas was bad
The average AQI in Faridabad today has been recorded between 150 to 220, which falls in the moderate to poor category. In areas like NIT, Sector 14 and Sector 16A, AQI has reached 170 to 230. Fine dust particles (PM2.5 and PM10) present in the air are the main reason for this. There is some relief during the day but as the evening approaches, pollution increases rapidly and AQI crosses 200. The problem is especially faced by those people who leave home every day for job, college or market. Many people are going out wearing masks so that bad air does not reach the lungs directly.
What is the cause of pollution?
The situation in Ballabhgarh is even more disturbing. Here AQI has reached the range of 150 to 240+. Local people say that a layer of fog and smoke is visible early in the morning. Traffic pressure, industrial activities and road side dust all together are increasing the pollution. In homes where there are elderly people or children, the risk of falling ill is higher. Many people are also complaining of cough and headache.
Gurugram’s air is poisonous
If we talk about Gurugram, the air quality here is even worse. Today the average AQI of the city was between 200 to 240, which falls in the bad to very bad category. AQI reached 170-184 in DLF Phase 1, 164-186 in Sector 43 and 240 in Vikas Sadan area. The problem here too is the increased amount of PM2.5 and PM10. High rise buildings, ever increasing vehicles and construction work are making the air more poisonous.
doctors advice
Overall, the air of NCR is not at all good for health these days. Doctors are advising to go out only when necessary, especially in the morning and night. To keep the air clean inside the house, open less windows and do not forget to wear a mask. This situation can worsen in winter, so caution is the best solution.
