Faridabad: The air in Haryana today has become so heavy and suffocating that people are finding it difficult to even breathe. The sky appeared slightly hazy since morning and as soon as I went out on the road, I felt a burning sensation in my eyes and a sore throat. The weather is clear but the dirt mixed in the air has made the entire atmosphere heavy. In many districts of Haryana, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached critical levels, which is considered extremely dangerous for people’s health.
difficulty breathing
The worst situation is in Faridabad where AQI 311 was recorded. This level directly falls into the dangerous category. People going to office or college every day are going out wearing a mask and scarf. Many people reported feeling difficulty in breathing even after walking for a short while. The situation in Gurugram, Bahadurgarh, Sonipat and Palwal is also not better. The AQI of these cities reached between 270 to 295, which falls in the serious category. This is the level where even clean people start feeling cough, headache and fatigue.
The air in some areas is a little better
The air condition in Rohtak and Dharuhera is also bad. AQI has been recorded at 259 and 262 at both the places. Doctors say that prolonged exposure to this level of air has a direct impact on the lungs, especially on children, the elderly and people suffering from asthma. The air is not healthy even in Jind, Bhiwani and Hisar. Here AQI reached from 205 to 216, which falls in the serious category. However, the situation looked slightly better in some districts of North Haryana, like Ambala, Panchkula, Panipat and Kurukshetra. But here also the AQI remained between 174 to 200 which falls in the unhealthy category.
be careful people
People need to be most careful at this time. It is very important to wear a mask while going out, not to stay in the open for too long and to increase water intake. People who have respiratory problems need to be especially cautious. Micro particles present in the air can cause harm by going inside the body.
no air left to breathe
Overall, the air in most of the districts of Haryana is no longer fit for breathing. Measures are underway at the government and administration level, but for now, people will have to give priority to their own safety. It may take a few days for the air to clear, so caution is the best protection.
