Violent protests have intensified after the assassination of Usman Hadi in Bangladesh. After the death of Hadi, who was leading the movement against Sheikh Hasina, incidents of violence and vandalism have increased in many parts of the country including Dhaka. The protesters attacked and set fire to the newspaper building. Famous economist Mohammad Yunus’s appeal for peace also failed to have any effect. The protesters are demanding the return of Sheikh Hasina and punishment of Hadi’s killers.
