The demand for their banana chips is continuously increasing due to pure quality, superior taste and attractive packaging. By combining farming and processing, he has achieved annual sales of Rs 8 to 10 lakh, which has become an example for the farmers and youth of the area.

Farmer Abhishek Anand has emerged as an inspiration for those young farmers who get frustrated due to lack of jobs. Abhishek, who has done MSc in Agriculture, proved that with proper planning and hard work, farming can also become a profitable enterprise. He not only adopted banana farming himself, but also connected other farmers of the village with it. Today, due to his efforts, his village is gradually becoming a ‘banana hub’. Abhishek believes that if there is innovation in farming and understanding of the market, then the farmer can become self-reliant. You can also earn huge income.
1250 plants are needed in 1 acre
Abhishek, who started farming with two and a half acres, is today cultivating bananas in about 8 acres. He also does inter-cultivation of maize and cabbage with banana, which reduces the cost and makes him a net income from banana. Abhishek says that about 1250 banana plants are planted in one acre, which costs up to Rs 1.25 lakh. After deducting the expenses, the income per acre is Rs 1.5 to 2 lakh, which is two to three times more than other crops.
50 farmers have also been given training
After success in farming, Abhishek moved towards value addition and set up a banana chips plant at a cost of about Rs 15 lakh. The production capacity of this plant is 52 metric tons, in which 25 percent subsidy has also been received from the government. After the closure of the Riga sugar mill in 2019, his father’s concern prompted him to think of an alternative cash crop. Abhishek, who started banana cultivation scientifically in the year 2020, also trained 50 farmers with the help of Aatma in 2022. Today, not only is his income doubling. Rather, by providing employment to dozens of youth, he has created a new identity as a successful farmer as well as a young entrepreneur.
