A 32-year-old thief who tried to steal a James Bond-inspired precious Fabergé egg by swallowing it has finally passed out his stolen goods “naturally” while in police custody. Police say the valuables were recovered safely without any medical intervention. The incident came to light when the accused swallowed a diamond-studded “Octopussy” themed Fabergé pendant worth £14,600 (approximately Rs 15 lakh) from Partridge Jewelers located in the central area of Auckland. The item is inspired by the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy, which featured the theft of a precious Fabergé egg.
swallowed locket
The accused was caught trying to steal when the shop was closed. When the employees tried to stop him, he took out the locket from his pocket and swallowed it, so that the evidence of theft could be hidden. Police were immediately informed and within a few minutes he was arrested. After the arrest, the police immediately took the accused into custody and got him medically examined. Officials said they had to “wait for nature to take its course” to recover the locket.
