Sankat Mochan Temple, located in Barausan village of Jaisinghpur tehsil of Sultanpur district, is built on the lines of the famous Tirupati Balaji temple of South India. It was founded by Dr. Roop Narayan Pandey. It is said that after visiting Tirupati Balaji temple during his tour of the country, he got this temple built.

Dr. Roop Narayan Pandey established this temple on the lines of South India. While touring the country, the idea came to his mind to build a temple in the Dravidian style of the South in his village. For this he also donated about five bighas of land to the temple. This step reflects his spiritual outlook and spirit of social service.
Temple priest Shatrughan Mishra told Local 18 that visiting this temple provides relief from ghosts and childless people get the happiness of having a child. Apart from this, Hanuman ji also provides freedom from obstacles in marriage by giving blessings here. People come to this temple from far and wide with their wishes.
Not only the people of Sultanpur but also devotees from Azamgarh, Ayodhya, Amethi, Pratapgarh and Jaunpur come to visit this temple of Hanuman ji. The main reason for the fame of this temple is that people’s beliefs are fulfilled here and devotees come here to fulfill their wishes.
Shri Sankat Mochan Temple sees a huge crowd of devotees every week on Saturday and Tuesday. Apart from this, grand programs are organized every year on Hanuman Janmotsav. An annual Bhandara is also organized here on the occasion of Narak Chaturdashi of Kartik month, in which devotees come from far and wide to participate.
