In Muzaffarpur, the district administration and municipal corporation team launched a campaign to remove encroachments in Madipur and Motijheel. But the local people raised the demand for parking and road widening and openly said that without parking facility it is impossible to remove the encroachment.
Muzaffarpur. The action to remove encroachment in Muzaffarpur has been going on continuously for the last five days. The joint team of the district administration and the Municipal Corporation is engaged in removing encroachments on government land by running a campaign in the major roads and markets of the city. On Saturday, the effect of this campaign was seen in Madipur area of the city, where bulldozers and police teams reached the spot since morning. Permanent and temporary structures built in front of many shops were demolished.
The campaign continued with the strictness of the administration
During the action, opposition from the local people also came to the fore. Many people surrounded the officers and expressed their anger. Some angry people even deflated the tires of the JCB machine parked at the spot, so that the action could be stopped. However, due to the presence of police force and the strictness of the administration, the campaign continued without any halt.
On the other hand, on Friday, a big campaign to remove encroachment was also launched in Motijheel area. The administration claimed that this ongoing action would be helpful in controlling the heavy traffic jam in the city. To know the reality of this claim, the team of Local 18 reached Motijheel on Saturday, where people were asked about their opinion on this campaign.
There will be no solution without parking
Local people clearly said that mere removal of encroachment will not end the problem of traffic jam. He said that unless there is proper parking system in the city, the problem of vehicles parking on the roadside will continue. Many people also said that the road widening work has been incomplete for years and until it is completed, there will be no permanent relief from traffic jams.
Cart vendors set up camp
Along with this, it was also seen that despite the strictness of the administration, by the evening the street food carts had started coming on the road again at some places. Some hawkers in Motijheel and surrounding areas reopened their shops on the streets immediately after the encroachment was removed. Due to this once again the crowd on the road started increasing.
People say that solution is not possible if the administration just takes action. There is a need to keep the street vendors organized by providing alternative places, create parking zones and complete the widening of the roads.
