By adopting simple measures of agricultural scientists, essential nutrients can be provided to the plants without harming the mustard yield. Sultanpur: The mustard sowing season has been completed and farmers are now doing the first irrigation of their crops. But many farmers are not able to apply proper amount of fertilizer at the time of sowing, due to which mustard plants are not able to develop completely. This may have a negative impact on crop yield. In such a situation, agricultural scientists are suggesting some easy and effective measures for the farmers, by adopting which the quality and production of the crop can be maintained.
Method of applying fertilizer after sowing
Agricultural scientist of Agricultural Science Center Sultanpur, Dr. C.K. Tripathi told Local 18 that if fertilizer has been missed at the time of sowing, farmers can still apply fertilizer without harming the crop yield. For this, apply a mixture of 120-60-60 nitrogen-phosphorus-potash in the field. This will include half the amount of nitrogen and a mixture of phosphorus-potash. This will provide essential nutrients to the crop and help in plant growth.
Dr. Tripathi further said that if DAP is not available on time, then farmers can use SSB fertilizer. For this you should add SSB in three times the quantity of DAP. Along with this, if you want the amount of oil in mustard seeds to be high, then sulfur should be sprayed at the rate of 40 kg per hectare.
When and how to do top dressing
If farmer brothers have not been able to apply fertilizer at the time of sowing, then first of all give the necessary nutrients to the plants by top dressing with water. Always apply urea by dividing it into two or three parts – first with water, then with second water and if necessary, with the third part. In this way the crop will get complete nutrition and the plants will grow smoothly.
