What was on the breakfast menu?
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had reached Kaveri, the residence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, for a breakfast meeting on Saturday with an aim to resolve the impasse on the leadership issue. Siddaramaiah is claiming that he has got the mandate to remain the Chief Minister for the full five years, while Shivakumar indicated that he was promised that he would be handed over the reins of power after two and a half years. The issue of change of leadership has been going on for the last two months, but it intensified after the completion of two and a half years of the Congress government on November 20. The Congress high command intervened in the matter on Friday and asked both the leaders to resolve the issue by talking to them. After this, on Friday Siddaramaiah had called Shivakumar to his residence to meet him for breakfast. Before leaving for the Chief Minister’s residence, Shivakumar refused to comment and said that he would talk only after leaving Siddaramaiah’s residence. Sources in the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office said that the breakfast menu included idli, vada, sambar, chutney and upma.
