PM Modi Udupi Visit: PM Modi reached Shri Puntige Shri Krishna Math of Udupi, had darshan of Lord Krishna, met the saints and appreciated the traditions of the Math. He described education, service and spiritual tradition as inspirational for the society.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Udupi in Karnataka today, where he visited Sri Puntige Sri Krishna Math as part of the traditional Parjaya festival. During this, he met the saints of the monastery and took blessings and participated in spiritual programs.
This visit of PM Modi was completely religious and cultural focused. On reaching the monastery he was welcomed in a traditional manner. During this, a special kind of cap was seen on PM Modi’s head, in which peacock feathers are seen on the forehead.
The head of the Math gave detailed information to the Prime Minister about the traditions, history and importance of the Parjaya system of the Math. The PM described this tradition as the spiritual heritage of India and praised its preservation.

The Prime Minister inspected the ancient sculptures, temple heritage and classical architecture present in the monastery complex. Officials told them that the monastery changes its leadership every two years during the Parjaya festival, which is its unique tradition.
PM Modi sat with the saints of the monastery and discussed issues related to the country and society. He said that spiritual institutions strengthen the cultural identity of India and play an important role in showing the right direction to the young generation.
Keeping in mind the security and law and order of the Prime Minister, the Udupi administration had made strict preparations in the entire city. Traffic diversion was implemented around the Math and thousands of people stood on the roads to welcome PM Modi.
The Prime Minister also visited the cow shed and Vidya Kendra of the Math. He took information about the educational and service activities going on there and interacted with the students. The PM described these social initiatives as commendable.
PM Modi said about Shri Krishna Math that this place is not only a center of devotion but also a big institution for social upliftment and education. He said that the positive energy here affects every visitor.
The Math management presented special ‘Udupi Prasad’ and traditional shawl to the Prime Minister. PM Modi said that he experienced spiritual peace after coming here and the simplicity and discipline of the monastery impressed him.
