Manipur News: Militants attacked Assam Rifles post in Tengnoupal, Manipur with grenades and firing. Four soldiers were injured and the condition of one is critical. The army started a search operation in the area.
Imphal: Armed militants attacked a temporary post of Assam Rifles in Saibol police station area of Tengnoupal district of Manipur by throwing a hand grenade. Along with this, unknown militants also opened fire heavily. It is being told that this post belonged to the soldiers of Alpha Company of 3 Assam Rifles. About four soldiers are said to be injured in this attack by militants.
All the injured soldiers were immediately rushed to the hospital. According to the information received, the attackers first threw hand grenades and then started heavy firing. The soldiers deployed at the post immediately retaliated, after which the firing continued from both sides for about 15-20 minutes. After this the attackers escaped taking advantage of the darkness and dense forest.

According to security forces, four Assam Rifles soldiers were injured in this attack. One of these soldiers has been shot in the stomach and his condition is critical. All the injured were first given first aid in the nearest field hospital and then admitted to the military hospital in Imphal by helicopter. However, no official statement has come yet from Assam Rifles and Manipur Police.
No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. The entire area was sealed immediately after the attack. Additional Assam Rifles and Manipur Police contingents have arrived, and a major search operation is going on in the forests. Surveillance is also being done through drones and helicopters. Tengnoupal district is adjacent to the border with Myanmar, and in the last few months, militant activities have increased here again.
Area disturbed after caste violence
This area is disturbed after the Kuki-Meitei ethnic violence that started in May 2023. According to local people, the sound of early morning firing and explosions was heard several kilometers away. After this, there is an atmosphere of panic in the villages and people are not coming out of their homes. Senior army officers have reached the spot and the situation is being closely monitored.
