Ajab Gajab News: A surprising case has come to light in Bihar. Metal wire and pencil have been taken out from the stomach of a prisoner of Nalanda jail. Actually, in an intoxicated state, the prisoner swallowed 4 metal wires and 2 pencils. After this, the team of Dr. Manish Mandal at IGIMS Patna saved his life by performing a successful surgery. The condition of the prisoner is now stable.
Patna: A case came before the doctors at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) which surprised everyone. A convicted prisoner serving his sentence in Nalanda jail was brought to IGIMS after complaining of severe stomach pain and confusion. During investigation, doctors found that 4 metal wires and 2 pencils were stuck in the prisoner’s stomach. The doctors of the gastrology department were shocked to see this report. A medical team was immediately formed under the leadership of Department Head Dr. Manish Mandal. Then preparations for the surgery were made without any delay. The team operated meticulously and successfully removed all the external metal wires and pencils stuck in the stomach.
Had surgery not been done, death could have occurred.
According to doctors, the wire and pencil were stuck inside the stomach for a long time. If timely treatment was not given, the walls of the prisoner’s intestines could have burst. There was a serious threat of death due to internal bleeding. Doctors also said that the infection and pain were continuously increasing due to the metal and sharp objects present in the stomach. After the operation, the prisoner’s condition is now said to be stable. He has been kept under observation in the hospital.
5 months ago, he had swallowed wire and pencil while intoxicated.
During interrogation, the prisoner told that he had swallowed metal wires and pencils while drunk about 5 months ago. He had ignored this problem in jail. Due to which serious problems gradually arose in the stomach. IGIMS administration has described this case as very rare and challenging. The team of doctors has succeeded in saving a life by performing a successful surgery with quick decision.
