Haridwar: According to the Hindu calendar, many special days arrive throughout the year for human welfare. There are some dates throughout the year on which performing puja as per the rituals, chanting mantras etc. is especially fruitful. There are 24 Ekadashis in a year which are dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Utpanna Ekadashi is celebrated on Marg Shirsh Krishna Paksha Ekadashi, while Mokshada Ekadashi is said to have special significance in Shukla Paksha.

According to religious texts, the birth anniversary of Goddess Ekadashi is celebrated on the day of Ekadashi in Krishna Paksha, whereas in Shukla Paksha, Mokshada Ekadashi is said to be the most special day for attaining salvation. It is believed that by doing any religious work on this day, one will attain salvation. Giving more information about this, Haridwar’s scholar Dharmacharya Pandit Shridhar Shastri says that 24 Ekadashis arrive in a year, which have their own significance.

Ekadashi date is most dear to Lord Vishnu. Margashirsha month is most dear to Lord Vishnu because his incarnation Shri Krishna, while preaching Geeta, has described himself as the month of Margashirsha. Devi Ekadashi is also born in this month and Mokshada Ekadashi is celebrated in Shukla Paksha to attain salvation.
How to do puja
He further explains that in the year 2025, Mokshada Ekadashi will be celebrated on Monday, 1st December. On this day, salvation is achieved. According to religious texts, on this day one can attain salvation only by chanting Lord Vishnu’s special and miraculous mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay’ 108 times. Wake up in Brahma Muhurta, take bath etc. and resolve to fast and after worshiping Lord Vishnu, complete the fast with devotion by donating white colored items like rice, milk, flour, rice etc. Among all the Ekadashis occurring throughout the year, Mokshada Ekadashi is the easiest and special day for attaining salvation. By observing fast on this day, the blessings of Lord Vishnu always remain.
