New Delhi. There was concern among lakhs of employees due to non-appearance of entries for September and October 2025 in the EPF passbook. On social media and complaint portals, users were continuously raising questions as to where their monthly contributions had gone. Meanwhile, EPFO issued an official notice clarifying that this is just a temporary technical delay and all the entries will soon be visible in the passbook. The organization said that due to a major upgrade of the backend ledger system, the updates are not being reflected in a timely manner.
Delay due to system upgrade
According to EPFO, the entire structure of ECR i.e. Electronic Challan-cum-Return Ledger Posting Mechanism is being revamped. For this reason, passbook updates for the salary months of September and October 2025 are going slow. EPFO says that this delay is entirely related to technical improvements and is being done with the aim of modernizing member services. He regretted the inconvenience and reiterated that all contributions are safe and will be reflected in the passbook in a few days. The organization expects that once the upgrade is complete, claim filing, passbook viewing and account access will become faster and easier than before.
New digital features also launched during upgrade
Interestingly, amidst this technical update, EPFO is also rolling out new digital tools. Pensioners can now send their digital life certificate sitting at home through facial recognition technology. Also, a new feature has been added on the Unified Portal, through which both employers and members can request amendments in their profiles online. In this sequence, a new dashboard named ‘Passbook Lite’ has also been launched, which gives an instant glimpse of contribution, withdrawal and balance, that too without going to the old passbook page.
How to view passbook after system update
Once the ledger upgrade is completed, the missing entries for September and October 2025 will automatically start appearing in the passbook. Users will not need any additional process. After the update, these can be seen like this – Go to UAN Member e-Sewa portal, login with UAN and password, then select Passbook Lite option. There you will be able to view or download your latest contribution details. EPFO says that all the data updates will come in the passbook sequentially, and members do not need to worry about anything.
