New Delhi. Once again a proud moment is about to come for the people of UP. The work of building the 10th longest bridge in Uttar Pradesh, which has till now achieved the title of having the longest expressway in the country, has also started. This will be the longest bridge in the state, which will be built on the Ganga river. After its preparation, people of districts like Kanpur, Unnao, Lucknow and Hardoi will benefit. At present, the longest bridge of UP is built between Sitarpur and Bahraich districts.
This bridge is being built on the Ganga river in Bithoor, Kanpur. The responsibility of building it has been given to Russian company LLC Multi Inter Regional. The company has also started the work of building the bridge. Its map has also been approved and even its drawing is ready. Soon the work of laying pillars in the middle of the river Ganga will also start. This bridge is part of the Ring Road Project being built between Kanpur and Unnao districts.
how long is the bridge being built
The length of the bridge being built on the Ganga river in Bithoor is said to be about 3.4 kilometers. This is an important part of the 8.5 kilometer road being built under Package Two of Kanpur-Unnao Ring Road. This bridge is being built with 6 lanes. An Indian company is also working with the Russian company in making it. The cost of the bridge is said to be around Rs 972 crore. About 93 kilometers of ring road is being built between Kanpur and Bithoor districts, which will be prepared in three packages.
From where to where will the bridge go?
This bridge being built in Bithoor area will connect Kanpur to Unnao district, which will become the main means of crossing the entire submerged area. After its preparation, it will help in managing the traffic inside Kanpur city. The design of this bridge has been made flood resistant, which will cover the submerged area and provide a better means of transportation. Even though the bridge is being constructed by a Russian company, it is being monitored by the Highway Authority. Once ready, this bridge will prove to be a game changer for Kanpur, Unnao and surrounding districts like Lucknow and Hardoi.
what will be the benefit
After the construction of this bridge, the biggest benefit will be to the people traveling on Bithoor and Unnao routes. The time taken by people traveling on these routes will now be reduced by 30 to 40 percent. Apart from this, one of the 4 bridges built on river Ganga has collapsed. Obviously, after the construction of this bridge, economic development and industrial connectivity will also accelerate. The cost of trade and freight transportation between Kanpur and other cities will also be reduced by 20 to 25 percent. This bridge will ease traffic by connecting the Ring Road with NH 27 and NH 34 and the Lucknow-Agra Expressway.
Where is the longest bridge of the state now?
Currently the longest bridge in UP is built on Saryu river. The length of this bridge is 3.2 kilometers. This bridge connects Bahraich district to Sitapur district, which is known as Chahalari Ghat Bridge. However, the longest bridge being built in Kanpur will be the longest in UP but will be the 19th longest bridge in the country. Along with Kanpur, efforts to build another long bridge in Ayodhya have also intensified.
An even longer bridge will be built in Ayodhya
Along with building a bridge on river Ganga in Kanpur, efforts have also started to build another long bridge on river Saryu in Ayodhya. To expand tourism in Ayodhya, there is a proposal to build a ring road around the city. The 4.2 kilometer bridge to be built will be part of this ring road. After this bridge is built, it will be considered the largest bridge of UP. The cost of building this bridge is said to be around Rs 1,500 to 2,000 crore. The length of Ayodhya Ring Road will also be around 67 kilometers.
