Benefits of Fenugreek Laddus: Fenugreek Laddus are considered very beneficial in reducing joint pain, swelling and stiffness in winter. According to Ayurveda, fenugreek has anti-inflammatory properties, while gum, ghee and dry fruits strengthen the bones and provide energy to the body. These laddus improve digestion, reduce gas and constipation and increase immunity. These laddus are also very beneficial for women after delivery. They are easily made in Rajasthani style by roasting fenugreek, gum, flour, ghee and dry fruits.
Fenugreek laddus are made in every house in the rural areas of Rajasthan during the winter season. It is most beneficial for the elderly, because it gives strength to the body and gives warmth to the body. Ayurvedic physician Dr. Mahesh Sharma told that fenugreek laddus have a warming effect, hence they are no less than a medicine in winter. Traditionally they are considered beneficial for women, the elderly and pregnant mothers. Fenugreek provides relief from weakness, fatigue and pain caused by cold by increasing the internal heat of the body.
According to Ayurvedic doctors, fenugreek seeds have natural anti-inflammatory properties, which help in reducing joint pain, stiffness and swelling. In winter, elderly people often suffer from pain in knees and waist. Regular consumption of fenugreek laddu strengthens the bones and elements like gum, dry fruits, ghee provide more nutrition to the body. Apart from this, these laddus also strengthen the digestive system. Dry ginger, coriander, black pepper and jaggery present in these are considered digestive.
These reduce the problems of gas, indigestion and constipation. It also protects against cold and cough by increasing the body’s immunity. Eating these for breakfast in the morning maintains energy throughout the day. After delivery, fenugreek laddus are given to women to remove weakness from the body and to provide relief from pain. Housewife Sharda Devi told that to make fenugreek laddus, fenugreek seeds, wheat flour, jaggery, desi ghee, gum, walnuts, almonds, coriander powder, dry ginger and black pepper are used. Fenugreek is first soaked and dried so that its bitterness is reduced. Then it is lightly roasted and made into powder. Similarly, a mixture is prepared by roasting gum and dry fruits in ghee. Making these laddus is also very easy.
Housewife Sharda Devi told that to make traditional fenugreek laddu in Rajasthani style, first soak 1 cup fenugreek seeds for 6 to 8 hours, dry them and then fry them lightly and grind them coarsely. After this, heat 1 cup ghee in a pan, fry 2 cups gum and take it out separately. Now fry 2 cups of wheat flour in the same ghee on low flame till it turns golden. Then add fenugreek powder, gum, powdered sugar or sugar powder to the roasted flour and mix well so that the mixture becomes uniform.
After this, while the mixture is still warm, add almonds, cashews, pistachios, coconut shavings, dry ginger (dry ginger) and celery, which make the laddus digestive and nutritious. Now apply some ghee on your hands and make medium sized laddus from the mixture. When they cool completely, fill them in an airtight container. These laddus give strength especially in winters and are considered very beneficial for pregnant women and the elderly.
