When the family tried to take them to another hospital, the nursing home management delayed in the name of paperwork. Later, when the woman was taken to another hospital, the doctors declared her dead. The post mortem report also confirms broken ribs and internal injuries.
A case of negligence in the name of treatment came to light in Kanpur. A woman admitted to a private nursing home died during treatment. The information received revealed that the staff did not follow the correct medical protocol and applied pressure on the patient’s chest to give CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation). It is alleged that due to carelessly given CPR, several ribs of the woman were broken, due to which her condition became critical and then she died.
According to family members, the woman was admitted to the nursing home on Monday night after a minor health problem. After initial examination, the doctors assured him of normal treatment, but late at night the patient’s health started deteriorating. Meanwhile, the nursing home staff tried to give him CPR. But due to lack of expertise, the staff applied vigorous pressure on the chest. Due to which the woman suffered internal injuries.

There was chaos in the woman’s family after the incident. The family members created a ruckus by making serious allegations like murder against the nursing home and registered a case with the police and demanded action. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and interrogated the nursing home management. Statements of many hospital employees have been detained and recorded.
After the matter came to notice, the Health Department has also formed a team and started investigation. At the same time, the nursing home management is giving its clarification saying that the staff tried their best to save the life, but the patient died due to his critical condition.
Many nursing homes in Kanpur are running without specialist doctors and trained staff, over which the administration has no control. After this painful incident, questions have again been raised on the quality of health services and monitoring of private hospitals in the city.
