He claimed that at the closing ceremony of the recently concluded G20 summit in Johannesburg, the South African government had flatly refused to hand over the G20 presidency to a US Embassy official. Trump called it an insult to America and announced to stop all American aid and subsidies to South Africa with immediate effect.
