Deoband/Saharanpur: Jamiat Dawatul Muslimeen’s patron and renowned Deobandi Ulema Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora, while releasing a detailed video message, termed the increasing trend of music, dancing, bands and fireworks in Muslim homes and social gatherings as a matter of deep concern. He not only called it against religious teachings, but also termed it as an important and ignored reason for the current troubles and restlessness of Muslims. In the video, Maulana said that today the situation has become such that disobedience to Allah has been made a kind of “status symbol”. He regretted that the same tasks which were advised to be avoided are becoming common today in the name of happiness, fame, fashion and modernity.
‘Weddings have become a platform for entertainment here’
Maulana said, “In our homes, music and songs have replaced the recitation of Allah and the Quran. In the shops, there is no spirit of zikr, but the noise of songs has surrounded the atmosphere. Our weddings have now become not an atmosphere of worship but a stage of entertainment, where dancing, singing, bands and noise are considered mandatory.” He said that despite all this happening, Muslims then complain that there is no peace in their hearts, no blessings in their homes, and the situation is not good. Maulana said in a stern tone, “Have we ever thought why the result changed? When the path is wrong, how can we reach the right destination? How can we expect mercy with open disobedience of Allah?”
Maulana also raised questions on fireworks
Maulana Ishaq Gora also termed fireworks at weddings as unnecessary and harmful and said that it is not only a wasteful expenditure but is also a means of spreading suffering. He said that loud explosions and noise cause problems to pedestrians, children, the elderly and the sick. Even animals and birds get scared of this noise. He raised the question, “Does celebrating happiness mean causing pain to another human being or creature?”
Role models of Muslims have changed
Maulana also expressed deep displeasure over the fact that the role models and heroes of Muslims have changed. He said that there was a time when Ulemas, elders, Hafiz of Quran, people following Shariat were worthy of respect and imitation in our eyes. Their life, character and teachings used to be our inspiration. But today, he said, “The people who dance, sing, appear on screen and shine have become our heroes. We have almost forgotten the teachings of our elders, their advice and their wills.” Maulana reminded Muslims that Islam always begins not with others, but with oneself. He said that society cannot change without changing the home environment. He appealed to Muslims, “First of all change your heart, change your home, change your habits. When a person turns towards Allah with a true heart, Allah does not delay in changing his circumstances.”
Maulana’s message video went viral
In the end, Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora concluded his speech by saying, “Believe me, our biggest need is to reform ourselves. The nation which reforms itself, Allah also reforms its destiny.” This statement of Maulana is becoming increasingly viral on social media, and a large number of people are seeing it as a call of time and a serious warning to the Ummah. Many people expressed their agreement in the comments that there is a dire need to take the society away from the noise of music and showmanship and back on the path of religious education, simplicity and worship.
