Dehradun : Many important proposals were approved in the Uttarakhand Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. In this meeting, major decisions related to environment, prosecution, energy, housing, labor law, urban transport and wildlife conflict relief were taken. The most important decision among these is that now the compensation in case of death due to conflict with an animal in the state has been increased, which earlier used to be Rs 6 lakh. Now Rs 10 lakh compensation on death in wildlife conflict
Approving the Human Wildlife Conflict Relief Distribution Fund (Amendment) Rules, 2025, the government has increased the compensation for death in wildlife attacks from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. This decision has been taken in accordance with the resolution passed in the meeting of Tiger Conservation Foundation and the announcement of the Chief Minister.
Annual report of Biodiversity Board will be presented in the Assembly
On the proposal of the Department of Environment Protection and Climate Change, approval has been given to table the annual report of Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board for the year 2024-25 in the State Legislature. With this, the accounts of the board’s work and expenses will be revealed to the public.
46 new posts created in prosecution department
To ensure effective advocacy in the prosecution department, the proposal to create 46 new posts of Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO) in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts has been approved. This will strengthen the advocacy of cases in the courts.
The financial report of UJVN Limited will be tabled in the Assembly.
According to the Energy Department, as per the provisions of the Companies Act 2013, the annual report of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) for the financial year 2022-23 will be presented in the coming assembly session.
Re-review of map approval requirement in authority areas
The Cabinet has decided to re-review the proposal presented by the Housing Department regarding the requirement of map approval. With this, efforts will be made to make the rules more practical.
Conditional permission for women employees to work in night shift
The state government has given conditional permission to women employees to work from 9 pm to 6 am. Adequate safety provisions will be necessary at the workplace. Prior written consent of the female employee will be necessary. This step will increase women’s employment opportunities, economic empowerment and promote gender equality.
Approval of amendment in Shop and Establishment Act
Many sections of the Act 2017 will be amended under the Uttarakhand Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025. These amendments will not put extra burden on small establishments. Workers in big establishments will get all the legal benefits. Investment will be encouraged and there will be flexibility in working hours. The income of workers is expected to improve.
Further action on Dehradun Metro Neo project
The suggestions given by the Government of India regarding the Metro Neo project were also placed before the Cabinet. The process of taking opinion from the cabinet on points related to the project has been taken forward. This project can give a new shape to the urban transport system of Dehradun in future.
