Some farmers of Araria cultivate mustard for vegetables and some farmers cultivate mustard for vegetables. Mohammad Najam, a farmer of Khati Rampur village of Araria district, while talking to Local 18, told how much he earns from the cultivation of mustard greens. What are the benefits of doing this crop?
Mustard crop ready in 30 days
Farmer Mohammad Najam and his wife do farming together. While talking to Local 18, he told that it is ready in 25-30 days. The mustard greens crop is ready in 25-30 days. Whereas mustard cultivation is ready in three months. Mustard crop is an important part of the Indian agricultural economy. It is not only an integral part of Indian kitchen. Rather, it is also the main source of livelihood for millions of farmers.
Earning of Rs 70 thousand in one acre
Farmer Mohammad Najam told Local 18 that he is cultivating mustard on about one acre of land. Mustard farming brings good income. Besides, the land also benefits from this crop. If the crop is good then one can earn more than Rs 50-70 thousand per acre. He said that he earns an income of about Rs 4-5 lakh in a year from the cultivation of maize, paddy and green vegetables in different seasons.
