One of these schemes is Mukhyamantri Kanya Daan Yojana, which is proving to be a boon for economically weaker families. Under this scheme, the government provides financial assistance of Rs 30 thousand to those families who have ration cards and who live below the poverty line. This amount is sent directly to the beneficiary’s account and becomes a big help in wedding expenses. The objective of the scheme is to ensure that financial problems do not become a hindrance in the marriage of daughters and their auspicious ceremony can be conducted on time.
These women will get benefits
Palamu district’s social welfare officer Neeta Chauhan told Local18 that a target of 439 girls has been set under this scheme in the district, out of which 290 beneficiaries have received the amount so far. The application process for the remaining 149 beneficiaries is going on and 60 applications have been received, which are being scrutinized. Once the verification is complete, the amount will be sent to the bank account of the eligible beneficiaries. This scheme is a great means of relief for those families who are not able to bear the burden of marriage expenses.
To avail the benefits of this scheme, certain prescribed eligibility are mandatory. The beneficiary should be a resident of Palamu district and the age of the girl should be 18 years or more. This must be his first marriage. To avail the benefits, the girl’s name should be mentioned in the ration card and it is mandatory to submit the marriage registration certificate after marriage. Families following these standards can easily avail the benefits of this scheme.

Interested beneficiaries can apply in their block office or district social welfare office. Identity card, age proof, ration card, bank account, marriage card (if any) and later marriage registration certificate have to be submitted along with the application.
