Nainital: A big change is going to happen soon in the lake city of Nainital of Uttarakhand. The oldest, busy and historical big market of the city is now going to develop in a new form with its traditional identity. The administration has prepared a plan for comprehensive beautification and reconstruction, under which the entire market will be molded in the Kumaoni architectural style. For decades, market traders were demanding beautification, which is now going to be completed.
Tourism will increase with the beauty of the market

Work will start soon
Ratnesh Saxena, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, said that the beautification of Bada Bazaar has been approved by the Tourism Department. A budget of approximately Rs 2 crore 29 lakh has been approved and its tender process has also been completed. He told that the work will be started soon. Mallital Bada Bazaar will also be given a new look on the lines of beautification work done earlier in Khadi Bazaar.
Folk culture will be seen in shops
Under this project, Kumaoni stones, traditional wood carvings and cultural designs made by local artisans will be used. Kumaoni folk art and traditional pictures will be engraved on the shutters of the shops. The lighting system of the market will be given a modern and attractive look. Besides, the hoardings of the shops will be decorated with Aipan art, which will further strengthen the cultural identity of the market. There is enthusiasm about this scheme among the local people and businessmen. It is expected that the new big market will not only enhance the beauty of the city but will also give a new boost to tourism and business here.
