Rohtas: Major preparations have started to give a new direction to the tourism industry in Rohtas district of Bihar. The Industry Department has prepared a detailed proposal for tourism development and sent it to the government, once it is approved, both the identity and economy of the district can get new strength. Tourism is considered an industry which has immense potential for employment and development and the historical and natural heritage of Rohtas is becoming a major basis for this change.
According to this proposal, about one and a half dozen places including Rohtasgarh Fort, Sher Shah’s Tomb, Indrapuri Barrage, Tutla Bhawani, Guptadham, Durgavati Reservoir, Tarachandi Dham, Small Rock Rock of Emperor Ashoka, Pilot Baba Dham and Manjhar Kund will be developed as attractive tourist centres. There is a plan to increase tourism related activities with modern facilities at these places. So that the tourists coming to the district can get a better experience without any hassle.
These facilities will be available at tourist places
At the same time, in the administration report, special emphasis has been laid on developing stay homes, hotels, restaurants, guide services, parking areas and travel facilities. This will provide modern facilities to the tourists. At the same time, new employment and self-employment opportunities will be created for the local people, especially the youth and women. Rural areas will also get direct benefits through running home stays, providing local food and guide services.
Approval has already been received by the Forest Department to build a stay home in the Kaimur hill area near Goriya village. Funds have also been allocated for this. With its construction, the living facilities for the tourists coming to the area will become better. This step will also open new avenues of employment for the local people.
100 tourist places will be developed
Here, the Central Government had included Sasaram among the 100 tourist cities of the country under the new National Education Policy three years ago. Also, Sher Shah’s Tomb and Rohtasgarh Fort are being developed under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme. Facilities like boat house have already been started in Durgavati reservoir. At the same time, approval has also been received to build a tourism market near Indrapuri Barrage. Work is going on to develop Tutla Bhavani Dham as eco-tourism, which will also promote natural tourism.
Employment opportunities will increase
One of the biggest projects of the district is the plan to develop Durgavati Reservoir on the lines of Dag Lake. After developing on this model, hotels, restaurants and entertainment facilities will be established here on a large scale, which is expected to lead to a huge increase in local employment.
Apart from this, the administration has also prepared a plan to develop the tomb of Hasan Khan Suri, the sacrifice place of immortal martyr Babu Nishan Singh, the tombs of Alawal Khan and Salim Shah, Chacha Phagumal Gurudwara, Yakshini Dham of Bhaluni, Guptadham, Ganesh Temple of Chauyasan and Manjhar Kund as tourist destinations.
