Pilibhit Tiger Reserve: While Pilibhit Tiger Reserve of Uttar Pradesh is famous for tigers, many rare cat species are also found here. The most unique among these is the fishing cat, which is expert in hunting in water and fish is its favorite prey. Spread over 73,000 hectares, this forest has an extensive network of rivers and canals, due to which a good population of fishing cats is seen. This cat is almost twice as big as a domestic cat, strong and agile. It has a small tail, which it uses as a rudder while swimming. This species with black-brown spots on gray fur holds a special identity in Pilibhit Tiger Reserve due to its special water-hunting skills.
