CJI Gavai on Reservation: Justice Gavai is the second person from the Dalit community to become the head of the Supreme Court. He said that the socially and economically advanced sections of the SC/ST communities have blocked a large portion of the reservation.
Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai (CJI Gavai) has retired. On the last day of his tenure in the Supreme Court, he made a big statement on reservation. He expressed concern that the benefits of reservation are not reaching the truly deprived and backward people. Justice Gavai said that the socially and economically advanced sections of the SC/ST communities have withheld a large portion of the reservation.
