Dharohar Jamui News: Simultala of Jamui district is famous for its kothis. But this place is also known by the name of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda came to Simultala twice in the year 1887 and 1889.
Swami Vivekananda had come to Simultala at the behest of Congress President Surendranath Banerjee. For the first time he stayed in Sastho Kothi of Simultala for about 15 days. For the second time he stayed in Surendranath Banerjee’s house for about three months. There is a detailed mention of his arrival at Simultala in the book ‘Sampoorna Shyaran Swami Vivekananda’ written in Bengali language.
At that time Belur Math was not established in Kolkata. Impressed by the climate of Simultala, Swami Vivekananda also wanted to establish Belur Math here. His dream was to establish a world class monastery in Simultala, which would become a center of spiritual and cultural consciousness. However, at that time there was a severe shortage of means of transportation to Simultala. It was not easy to reach here due to dense forest, limited roads and presence of predatory animals. For these reasons, Belur Math was finally established in Kolkata.
Vilasanand Ji Maharaj, close to Swami Vivekananda and Brahmanand Maharaj, the first president of Belur Math, played an important role in realizing this idea. He established Shri Anandpur Ramakrishna Math in Simultala in the year 1916 by donating land from the landlord of Kharna area of Banka district. This monastery is historical in itself, because it was established about 19 years before the Belur Math of Kolkata.

At present this monastery preserves the memories of Swami Vivekananda. A committee under the leadership of Sevak Chitodananda Maharaj is making continuous efforts to give recognition to this monastery and Simultala at the national level. The committee has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced the development of Simultala associated with Swami Vivekananda.
If Simultala develops as per the dreams of the Prime Minister, this place can become a very important spiritual and tourist center of Bihar. Every year the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is celebrated here with devotion and enthusiasm. Simultala is not only a witness to the ideology of Swami Vivekananda, but also has its own unique identity as a cultural and spiritual heritage of Bihar.
