Shimla. The intention of the Sukhu government in Himachal Pradesh is clear that due to the disaster, Panchayat elections will not be held on time. Besides, the government wants to reorganize the Panchayats and has also sought proposals. However, amidst all this, an important hearing will be held in the High Court on Monday regarding the Panchayat elections in the state. During this time, an important hearing will be held in the High Court regarding Panchayat elections. It should be noted that the State Election Commission had filed an incomplete reply in the court.
Actually, lawyers Dikkan Kumar Thakur and Happy Thakur had filed a PIL regarding the Panchayat elections. In such a situation, the High Court can issue some order in this regard on Monday.
Election Commission had banned
It should be noted that the Election Commission had started the election process for Panchayati Raj and urban bodies elections six months ago in August. However, after implementing the Disaster Management Act on October 8, 2025, the government had said that Panchayat elections would be held only after the roads are restored. Besides, the government had also approved the reorganization of Panchayats. However, the Election Commission had banned re-delimitation and formation by invoking Section 2.1 of the Code of Conduct. In such a situation, the Election Commission and the government came face to face.
Suggestions have been sought regarding the reorganization of Panchayats.
Mandi District Panchayat Officer Anchit Dogra said that the proposal for reorganization of Gram Sabha areas has been notified and now suggestions have been sought from the general public within the stipulated period.
He said that if any Gram Sabha member or citizen has to submit any objection or suggestion regarding the reorganization of Gram Sabha areas related to development block Dhanotu, Dharampur, Balichowki and Sundanagar, then they can submit their objections or suggestions in the office of the Deputy Commissioner Mandi within seven days from the date of issue of the notification. The District Panchayat Officer said that instructions have been issued to the concerned Block Development Officers to ensure wide publicity and dissemination of the notification and under this, ward at the Gram Panchayat level. Information will be given through the members and the notification will be pasted on the notice boards of the concerned Gram Panchayat offices, so that more and more people can ensure participation in this process.
