Kalaburagi (Karnataka): The discord in Karnataka Congress is still not over. Now the Congress high command has distanced itself from the Karnataka Congress feud. Yes, Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge says that there is no confusion in the high command regarding Karnataka. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday clarified that the confusion over the leadership issue in the party’s Karnataka unit is only at the local level and not within the party high command.
Speaking to reporters here, Mallikarjun Kharge said, ‘The high command has not created any confusion. It exists only at the local level. He asked, “How is it right to blame the high command?” Mallikarjun Kharge said that instead of blaming the internal disputes on the high command, local leaders should take responsibility themselves.
Congress chief Kharge also said that taking credit for the party’s electoral success should be avoided. Without naming anyone, he said, ‘Everyone has built the party together. This is not the effort of any one person. Congress was created by party workers. Congress workers supported us.
What advice did Kharge give to Congress workers?
Kharge, leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, appealed to the party workers to stop boasting of individual contributions and accept the collective efforts of the workers. This statement was made by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. This comes amid an alleged tussle over power between Shivakumar. The Chief Minister on Friday expressed confidence that he has the support of the party leadership to complete his full five-year term. On the question of Shivkumar going to Delhi to meet the party high command, Mallikarjun Kharge said, ‘I have no information on this matter.’
What is Karnataka Congress discord?
Karnataka Congress discord means a big fight within the party regarding the post of Chief Minister. There is a tussle going on between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. While forming the government in 2023, there was reportedly a formula of two and a half years, that is, Shivkumar should become CM after half the tenure. Now after completion of two and a half years, Shivakumar’s supporters are demanding change, while Siddaramaiah wants to remain for the full term. The high command (Kharge, Rahul) organized a meeting, but the dispute did not stop. Due to this the unity of the party is weakening.
