Many people were trapped inside the bus, to rescue them the rescue team had to make a way with the help of special equipment. According to Budiono, the rescue team had to enter the overturned bus with extreme caution and reach the injured. Every step was risky because of the shards of glass and the bent structure of the bus, but after several hours of struggle all the victims were pulled out.
According to Xinhua news agency, the Semarang Search and Rescue Office has confirmed that all the injured have been admitted to local hospitals, where they are undergoing treatment. The process of identifying the dead and injured is ongoing, while the police and related agencies are investigating the cause of the accident.
There was a fire in Indonesia
This accident has happened at a time when just a few days ago another painful incident had come to light in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Five people died in a fire in a residential house in Jakarta. Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency head Isnawa Adji said that the fire broke out at around 8:10 pm on Thursday night. He said that 10 fire engines were deployed on the spot to extinguish the fire and the fire could be controlled at around 11 pm. Preliminary investigation revealed that the house where the fire broke out was also being used as a warehouse for making accessories. Officials say that the cause of the fire could be an electrical short circuit, although the investigation into the matter is still going on. These continuously unfolding incidents have once again raised questions about road and fire safety in Indonesia.
