China Assault Rifle Telescope: Jammu Police has recovered a telescope (which can be mounted on a weapon) from Sidhra area. A ‘China-made’ telescope has been recovered from a six-year-old boy in Asrarabad area of Sidhra region, officials said. Police and Special Operations Group (SOG) teams are investigating the case.
Srinagar. Amidst the high alert issued in Jammu province, Jammu and Kashmir Police has made a major suspicious recovery on Sunday. Police have recovered the telescope of an assault rifle from an area near the NIA headquarters in Jammu. This telescope is said to be of Chinese marking, which is usually used as an attachment in sniper and assault rifles.
This telescope was found lying in an empty land filled with wild bushes between the NIA office and the security headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir Police. The special thing is that CRPF battalion headquarters and Border Security Force (SSB) bases are also present near this area, due to which the concern of the security agencies has increased further.
Senior police officers who reached the spot were seen avoiding saying anything in this matter at the moment. However, according to sources, the recovery of a Chinese telescope used by terrorists near four important security installations has raised alarm among the security agencies. Especially at a time when inputs have already been received regarding infiltration attempts from across the border and the possibility of infiltration under the cover of fog is being raised.
For the last four days, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces have been conducting joint search operations from the International Border to the hilly areas adjacent to the Line of Control (LoC). This search operation is being conducted to foil any possible infiltration in the area.
According to inputs from intelligence agencies, a sudden increase in activities has been observed at terrorist launch pads across the border in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Rajouri districts. Last month, a senior BSF officer had said that about seven months after suffering heavy losses at the hands of India in Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has again activated about 72 terrorist launch pads in front of Jammu province. Of these, 12 launch pads are said to be active near the international border in Sialkot and Zafarwal areas, while about 60 launch pads are said to be active across the Line of Control.
