These include 26-year-old Mukesh Mandal, who calls himself a software developer. He says that he has worked in the tech sector. At present, he is working as a road sweeper in St. Petersburg city of Russia and is earning around one lakh rupees every month.
17 Indians got cleaning jobs in Russia
According to Russian media reports, about four months ago 17 Indians had reached Russia in search of work. All of them have been employed by a road maintenance company named Kolomyazhskoye. The company makes complete arrangements for the accommodation, food, transportation and necessary paperwork for these employees. All these employees have been working to clean the streets of St. Petersburg for the last few weeks.
Journey from tech background to road
Mukesh Mandal claimed in a Russian media interview that he had previously worked as a software developer. He said that he has worked on modern tools like AI, chatbot and GPT and has also gained experience in projects related to companies like Microsoft. However, it is not clear whether he was working directly in Microsoft or in some company that used its technologies.
Get around Rs 1.1 lakh every month
In Russia, this job of street cleaner is considered economically beneficial. According to the report, every employee gets about 1 lakh rubles i.e. about 1.1 lakh rupees in Indian currency. According to company official Maria Tyabina, the employees are provided with safety clothing, food, transport and hostel facilities, so that they do not face any kind of problem.

Mukesh Mandal says that staying in Russia is not his permanent decision. His goal is to work for a year, earn money and then return to India. He said, ‘I am an Indian and for us the work is not small or big. Work is for God. Be it on the road or any other place, the real duty is to work responsibly.
