New Delhi. Serious questions have once again been raised on the changing nature of crime and the safety of innocent people in the country’s capital. The Anti Human Trafficking Unit under the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has solved a very challenging case and freed a 16 year old minor student from the clutches of cruelty. This story starts from a simple house in Bhalswa Dairy, where an innocent girl studying in 9th class lived with her family. Little did that innocent child know that the person who delivered a water bottle to his doorstep every day would open the gates of hell in his life.
The net woven under the guise of trust, the accused has been identified as 24-year-old Vikas. Vikas used to supply water to the house of the victim student for a long time. During this time, he started talking to the girl and gradually trapped her in his love trap. Accused Vikas created beautiful dreams of marriage in the girl’s mind and made her realize that he can do anything for her. At the naive age of 16, the student believed Vikas’s words and accepted him as her life partner.
That dark night of 19th December
On the night of 19 December 2025, the girl suddenly went missing from her house. When his family did not find him in the room in the morning, the ground slipped beneath their feet. After searching nearby and at the relatives’ place, when no clue was found, on December 20, the family lodged a complaint of kidnapping at Bhalswa Dairy police station. Since the case was related to a minor, Delhi Police took it very seriously and the investigation was handed over to the AHTU team of the Crime Branch.
How did the boy trap the girl?
Technical monitoring and police action On the instructions of DCP (Crime Branch) Pankaj Kumar, a special team of Inspector Manoj Dahiya, ASI Gopal Krishna and lady head constable Seema was formed. The police first searched the call detail records (CDR) of the missing student. Analysis of CDR revealed that the student was in constant contact with a young man named Vikas for some time. After technical monitoring and location tracking, the police got clues that both were hiding somewhere around Jahangirpuri area.
Delhi Police conducted the operation like this
Rescue operation and arrest of the accused: Based on field verification and local information, the police team laid a trap in Samta Vihar area. Connecting the links, the police finally reached a flat in Jahangirpuri. During the raid there, the police recovered the 16 year old student and arrested the accused Vikas from the spot. When the student was brought to a safe place and she was counselled, the truth that came out shocked everyone.
The illusion of love and then cruelty
The student told the police that Vikas had taken her with him by luring her with the promise of marriage. In that closed room of Jahangirpuri, Vikas sexually assaulted her and murdered her trust. The accused tried his best to ruin the life of a minor by taking advantage of his innocence. Based on the statement of the girl, the police have added serious sections of the POCSO Act in the case.
DCP Pankaj Kumar said that accused Vikas has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The police are now investigating whether Vikas has victimized any other girl in a similar manner before. This case has once again alerted parents to keep a close eye on the online and offline activities of their children. It is very important to be cautious about the behavior of children especially with outsiders visiting the house. At present, the victim has been handed over to her parents and she is being provided necessary medical aid. The police is collecting solid evidence in this case so that the harshest punishment can be given to the accused.
