Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Sunday that there are many misconceptions among a section of the society about the organization, which are being spread due to misleading campaigns. Addressing a program organized on the occasion of centenary celebrations of RSS at Science City Auditorium in Kolkata, he said that the Sangh has no enemies, but there are some people whose narrow interests are affected by the progress of the Sangh.
Bhagwat said that any person has the right to form an opinion about the RSS, but this opinion should be based on reality and not on rumours, manufactured narratives or information from secondary sources.
The Sangh chief said that to bring the reality of the Sangh in front of the people, lectures and dialogue programs are being organized in four cities of the country – Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. These programs have been organized to commemorate the completion of 100 years of RSS.
Sangh has no political agenda
Mohan Bhagwat clarified that RSS has no political agenda. He said that the Sangh works for the welfare and protection of Hindu society and its objective is social unity and nation building. He expressed confidence that India will again become a ‘Vishwaguru’ and it is the duty of the Sangh to prepare the society for this.
Speaking at the ‘RSS 100 Lecture Series’ programme, Bhagwat said that misunderstandings arise by comparing the Sangh with any other organization or looking at it through a political lens. He said that it is not right to consider RSS only as a service organization.
Big mistake associating with BJP
The Sangh chief also said that many people associate RSS only with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is a big mistake. According to him, the scope of work of the Sangh is much broader than politics.
As part of the centenary celebrations of RSS, an enlightened citizen conference was organized at North Bengal Marwari Bhawan in Siliguri on Friday. More than a hundred enlightened citizens from eight districts of North Bengal and Sikkim participated in this conference. Mohan Bhagwat was the chief guest in this program.
Senior citizens, retired government officials, academicians, doctors, lawyers, industrialists, artists, writers, sportspersons, representatives of social and religious organizations, media persons and other dignitaries participated in the program.
Emphasis on building moral society
In the youth conference held on Thursday, the Sangh chief spoke in detail about the hundred years of RSS’s journey and its social contribution. He said that the basic objective of the Sangh is to create a ‘gentleman’, i.e. a moral and virtuous person. Such people strengthen the society and country on the basis of selfless service and values.
During the question-answer session organized at the youth conference, questions related to national security, education and the future of the country were also discussed. In response to these questions, Mohan Bhagwat described eternal cultural values, indigenousness and self-reliance as essential for nation building and national security.
