Kolkata. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Sunday that the Indian government will have to do something regarding the situation of minorities in Bangladesh. Bhagwat said that the government may already be doing something, but it cannot be disclosed. He said, “Unrest and infiltration from Bangladesh is affecting West Bengal and these issues should be taken up by the central government.”
On the question of Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Subhendu Adhikari regarding the increasing Islamic fundamentalism in the state, Bhagwat said that it is for the government to decide who should be allowed to come to India from Bangladesh. There should be control on who will be allowed to come. He was speaking at a program on the occasion of the centenary year of RSS. Describing Hindus as a minority in the neighboring country, he said that they have to remain united for their security.
The RSS chief said, “We, including all Hindus around the world, will have to help them.” Regarding West Bengal, he said that if all Hindus unite then it will not take much time to change the situation in the state. He said that the focus of RSS is on social change and not on political change.
Talking on religious disputes, Bhagwat mentioned the Ayodhya issue and said that after a long hearing, the courts have given the verdict on the Ram Temple and Babri Masjid dispute, due to which the matter has ended. Now the attempt to rebuild Babri Masjid is a political conspiracy to restart the struggle for votes.
He was reacting to TMC MLA Humayun Kabir’s announcement of building a mosque in Beldanga in Murshidabad district. Bhagwat said that this is neither in the interest of Muslims nor Hindus. It should not happen. He said that governments keep coming and going, but religion remains intact. Therefore, no government should be involved in the construction of any religious building.
