Material
-Urad dal (soaked in curd) -1 cup
-Ghee-1/2 cup
-Milk-1 cup
-Sugar-3/4 cup (more/less as per taste)
-Cashews-10-12 (chopped)
-Almonds-10-12 (chopped)
-Cardamom powder-1/2 teaspoon
-Water-1/2 cup (for soaking the dal)
The method of preparation is as follows
1. Soaking lentils
Soak urad dal in water overnight so that it becomes soft.
2. Grinding pulses
Make a thick paste by adding some water to the soaked lentils.
3. Frying in ghee
Heat ghee in a pan. Add lentil paste and fry on medium flame while stirring continuously till it turns golden brown.
4. Add milk and sugar
Now add milk to it and mix well. Add sugar and cook until the pudding thickens.
5. Adding cashew-almonds
Add chopped cashews and almonds and cook for 5 more minutes.
6. Add cardamom powder
Finally add cardamom powder and serve the halwa hot.
7. Serving Suggestions
Serve the halwa hot. Garnish with some more cashews and almonds on top. If you want, you can also add some saffron petals.
