IndiGo compensation: Following the guidelines of the Civil Aviation Ministry, Indigo will start giving compensation to passengers from next week. In the beginning of December, many passengers had to face problems due to the cancellation of thousands of flights.
The airline company will issue travel vouchers as compensation to the affected passengers from December 26. The government has asked the airline companies to make payment to all eligible passengers as soon as possible. Travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 are for those passengers who were stuck in the airport for several hours on 3, 4 and 5 December.
Those who book directly will get refund first
Indigo will first pay those passengers who had purchased tickets directly through its official website. Because complete information about such passengers is already available with the airline company. After this, IndiGo will collect passenger data from travel agents and online travel agencies, so that payment can be delivered directly to all the affected customers.
DGCA will monitor
This entire process will be monitored by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Besides, the ministry will also monitor through the Air Seva portal. So that complaints can be resolved as soon as possible. Indigo has started giving refunds in case of cancellation of flights. The airline company has refunded the entire amount to some passengers.
However, many passengers who booked tickets through online travel agencies have not received payment. Some online travel platforms like MakeMyTrip etc. had started the refund process even before receiving the payment from the airline company. DGCA has directed all online travel agencies to pay the full amount to the passengers without any deduction.
