Wheat Cultivation Tips: Yellowing of leaves is visible in the fields of many farmers during the first irrigation after one month of wheat sowing. According to agricultural experts, this problem can be due to lack of nutrients, waterlogging in the field, poor soil health, insect infestation or diseases like yellow rust.
Lakhimpur: Almost a month has passed since the sowing of wheat and at this time the risk of various diseases in the crop increases. At this stage, diseases like yellow rust, leaf blight, karpa and root rot can damage the crop. Pathogens become increasingly active due to cold, excess moisture and fog. If timely monitoring and proper management is not done, production may be adversely affected. Therefore, farmers should inspect the fields regularly, use balanced fertilizers and, if necessary, spray pesticides with the advice of an agricultural expert, so that the crop remains safe and good yields are obtained.
The farmers who had sown wheat in the month of November are currently undergoing the first irrigation of their crops. Meanwhile, wheat leaves have suddenly started turning yellow in many fields, due to which farmers are worried. If the problem is not taken care of in time, the growth of the crop may be affected and the production will definitely decline.
Correct amount of fertilizer is necessary
Agricultural scientist Dr. Pradeep Bisen explains that there can be many reasons behind yellowing of wheat. Usually the first irrigation is done within 20 to 25 days and after this the crop needs essential nutrients. Many times farmers do irrigation on time, but are not able to use manure and fertilizers in the right quantity, due to which the plants do not get complete nutrition. Apart from this, poor soil health, insect infestation and diseases like yellow rust can also cause yellowing of leaves.
Wheat leaves may turn yellow due to these reasons also
Dr. Pradeep Bisen told that during the first irrigation, if water remains accumulated in one place in the field for a long time, yellowing may occur in the wheat crop. This problem increases further due to deficiency of zinc, sulphur, nitrogen and iron. In such a situation, it is beneficial to use about 10 kg zinc per acre. Also, it is very important to make proper arrangements for drainage in the field. If farmers take care of these things in time and use balanced manure and fertilizer, then the wheat crop can be saved from yellowing and possible losses can be relieved.
