YouTube has taken a big step regarding misleading content created by AI. The platform has banned two channels forever for repeatedly violating the rules. One of these channels, Screen Culture, was being run from India, while the other channel, KH Studio, was being run from Georgia. Both these channels were known for making fake movie trailers, which looked exactly like the official trailers of real film studios.
At present, these two channels are not visible when searched on YouTube. If someone goes directly to their channel link, it is written there – ‘This page is not available’. Screen Culture and KH Studio together had more than 20 lakh subscribers and their videos were viewed more than 1 billion times together.
According to the report of Deadline, these channels used to create fake trailers of upcoming films and web series by combining footage from real films and visuals created by AI. These videos looked so real that the common audience was easily deceived and thought that these trailers were released by the film studios.
had already been punished
Earlier this year, YouTube had stopped monetization of both the channels. The reason was misleading content and not disclosing AI or synthetic media properly. According to YouTube’s policy, if any content is created by AI and it looks like the original, then it is necessary to clearly label it.
Why did YouTube ban?
YouTube spokesperson Jack Malone told The Verge that after making improvements, these channels were briefly re-inducted into the YouTube Partner Program. But as soon as they were allowed to earn money again, they started violating rules related to spam and misleading metadata again. For this reason, YouTube completely removed them from the platform.
Screen Culture Strategy
Screen Culture founder Nikhil P. Chaudhary said that there were more than 10 editors in his team. His method was to upload videos quickly, upload different versions repeatedly and take advantage of YouTube’s algorithm. According to a report, this channel had uploaded more than 20 fake trailers of the Fantastic Four film, some of which even came higher than the official trailer in the search results.
This decision of YouTube clearly shows that the platform has now become more strict regarding misleading content created by AI. Strict action is certain against those creators who mislead the audience.
