Faridabad: Winter has arrived in Delhi-NCR, but along with the cold, poison has also dissolved in the air. Be it Faridabad or Gurugram, now even breathing is becoming difficult. When you go out in the morning, you immediately feel a stinging sensation in your eyes and a sore throat. Doctors clearly say that haze, fog and pollution together are creating such an environment that now even healthy people can fall ill.
Faridabad’s condition is worst
AQI was recorded at 481 in Zinnia Apartment of Faridabad, which was the most dangerous level today. Looking at these figures, AQI is 427 in Provident Fund Enclave 427, 422 in Sector 16, 418 in Sector 11, 412 in Sector 30 and 406 in Sector 14. It seems as if even breathing in the city has become a risk. According to IQAir, the normal level of the city is around 182-183, which is already worse, but now the situation has worsened.
The situation has worsened
If we talk about very bad areas, then Nathu Colony 384, Sector 10 HBC 382, Sector 17 366, Sector 16A – 364, Sector 46 – 362, Sector 82 – 350, NIT – 344 and Faridabad Station 3 recorded 334 AQI. These numbers clearly show that there is so much PM2.5 in the air that the dust is sure to reach the lungs. Bad/severe areas also include Sector 65 (264) and Sector 77 (234). These are the places where the situation is a little better but health concerns remain there too.
Health risks are increasing
difficulty breathing
While talking to Local18, 82 year old Sukhbiri Amma openly told about her problem – there is difficulty in breathing, it feels like cold, there is cough and burning sensation in the eyes. At my age this pollution is affecting me even more. There was trouble in his voice and to be honest, at that age he is troubled even without leaving the house. The doctor has advised to wear a mask and not go out, but when even the air at home becomes poisonous, where should a person go?
Another elderly person, Shiksha, said that he was having trouble breathing and chest pain. I have had a heart attack twice. The situation is getting worse due to this pollution. Now even breathing seems difficult. Listening to their words, it seems that this is not just a problem of the city but has become a direct challenge of life and death.
What is the solution
Now the question arises, what is the solution? Experts say that in cold weather the air gets pressed down and dust and smoke cannot go up. On top of that, vehicles, factories, burning of garbage, construction and stubble ash are all making the air more poisonous. The government has taken steps like sprinkling water, stopping the entry of trucks and stopping construction, but to be honest, the situation is not under control.
Pollution has become a permanent disease
The real thing is that the air of NCR is no longer a temporary threat, it has become a permanent disease. Today the elderly and children are the most troubled, tomorrow perhaps everyone will be affected by it. Now people have also accepted that wearing masks is a part of our everyday life.
Government should take strict steps
Today NCR got another lesson on pollution. If strict action is not taken on air pollution, then one day even breathing will become a luxury. The sky of Faridabad and Gurugram may look hazy but the truth is that we have to save our air. Otherwise the coming generations will be able to see the blue sky only in pictures.
