Raipur News: Vimal Kumar Sahu told Local 18 that if the leaves below the cabbage plants start getting spoiled or yellowing, then they should be removed immediately and separated. This reduces the possibility of disease spreading.
Raipur. With the onset of cold season, the trend of vegetable cultivation has once again started moving towards cauliflower. Vimal Kumar Sahu, field advisor of the Agriculture Department of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, told Local 18 that the present time is considered most favorable for the cultivation of cauliflower. Not only does cabbage vegetable taste better in winter, but the quality and market demand of the cabbage prepared in this season is also higher. He told that although cabbage is available even in summer season, the taste, color and texture of cabbage grown in winter is much more attractive. He further said that to cultivate cabbage in the cold of December, it is necessary to first prepare the seeds. After preparing the nursery, at least 25 days should be given so that the plants can become strong. After this, planting should be done in the field. During transplantation, it is important to maintain a distance of about one foot from plant to plant and two feet from row to row, so that the plants can get adequate air, sunlight and nutrients.
He told that the work of adding soil is very important after about a month of planting. This strengthens the roots of the plant and the cabbage flowers develop well. If this process is done properly in the field, the size of cauliflower improves and production also increases.
Less chance of spreading disease
Talking about the care of the crop, Vimal Kumar Sahu said that if the leaves below the cabbage plants start turning bad or yellow, then they should be immediately removed and separated. This reduces the possibility of disease spreading. Also, balanced use of DAP, urea, phosphorus and zinc should be done to nourish the plants.
Use of sulfur is very important
To make cabbage flowers white, dense and attractive, use of micro nutrients and sulfur is very important. With proper nutrition and timely planting, the yield of cabbage flowers can range from at least half a kilo to one kilo, due to which farmers get a good price in the market.
farmers’ costs reduced
He told that a big advantage of cabbage cultivation in the cold season is that the incidence of pests and diseases is relatively less during this time. This reduces the expenditure on pesticides and reduces the costs of farmers. Due to low expenditure, better production and good market demand, cauliflower cultivation is proving to be a profitable option for farmers in the cold season.
