PM Modi Assam News: In Guwahati, Narendra Modi accused Congress of ignoring Assam and the Northeast. He also exposed the conspiracy when a conspiracy was hatched to merge Assam with East Pakistan. PM Modi said that Assam is becoming a bridge connecting India and ASEAN countries and this state will become the engine of developed India in many fields.
Guwahati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday accused the Congress of neglecting Assam and the Northeast during its rule. He said that the BJP government is now correcting the mistakes which the Congress had committed in this area for years. At a rally after inaugurating the new terminal of Guwahati airport, PM Modi said that the development of Assam and the Northeast was never on the agenda of the Congress. The Prime Minister said, “Congress saved the infiltrators who occupied forests and land, threatening the security and identity of Assam. The BJP government is now correcting Congress’s past mistakes in the Northeast.”
The Prime Minister reached Assam from West Bengal, where he addressed a rally. Assembly elections are to be held in both the states in less than six months. PM Modi said that the Election Commission started a special review of the voter list so that infiltrators remain out of the election process, but some people are trying to save them. He said that the central government is taking strict steps to stop infiltration. PM Modi said that before independence, when the Muslim League and the British were preparing for the partition of India, there was a conspiracy to merge Assam with East Pakistan.
‘BJP respects every patriot’
He said, “Congress was also going to join it, but Gopinath Bordoloi saved the identity of Assam by standing against his party and prevented Assam from separating from the country.” The Prime Minister said that BJP respects every patriot and the Vajpayee government had given Bharat Ratna to Bordoloi. He said that under the leadership of BJP’s double engine government, development is happening continuously in Assam, like the Brahmaputra river flows.
‘Assam’s development is my responsibility’
PM Modi said, “My attachment to the land of Assam inspires me and gives me strength for the development of this region. Assam and the entire North-East is becoming the door to the development of India. Every state and region of the country has an important role in the mission of a developed India.” He said, “The development of Assam is not only a necessity but also a responsibility for me. In the last 11 years, development schemes worth lakhs of crores have been started in Assam and the North-East.” The Prime Minister said that India is working to become a developed country by 2047, with a focus on infrastructure, so that every state moves forward together and the underprivileged get priority.

He said, “Assam and the North-East are leading this mission. The ‘Act East’ policy has given priority to this region and Assam has emerged as the eastern gateway of India.” PM Modi said that Assam is becoming a bridge connecting India and ASEAN countries and this state will become the engine of developed India in many fields. He said that Assam has developed because the BJP government is protecting its identity and culture.
