Bastar News: In Bastar, former Maoist Masa Baldev alias Sameer has surrendered and started a new life under the rehabilitation policy. An appeal has been made to the youth to adopt the path of education and development and some inside information has also been given.
Bastar : Cadres associated with the Maoist organization in Bastar region are now gradually leaving the armed struggle and returning to the mainstream of society. Due to the rehabilitation policy of the government, many former Maoists are starting a new life. In this series, the team of Local 18 talked to former Maoist Masa Baldev alias Sameer, who had surrendered under rehabilitation, who shared many important information regarding the internal structure of the organization and the promotion process.
Masa Baldev was working as DVCM (District Voluntary Committee Member) in the Maoist organization. While in the organization, a reward of Rs 8 lakh was declared on him and he was carrying an automatic SLR weapon. Apart from this, he was also carrying out the responsibility of imparting training in the mobile military school of the Maoist organization.
The first person to be made a cadre member
Former DVCM Masa told that he had joined the Maoist organization in the year 2007. After recruitment in the organization, first of all the person is made a cadre member. After about a year one gets the status of party member. After this, posts like ACM and PPCM are given on the basis of work and responsibility. One gets the post of DVCM by being continuously active and successfully completing the tasks assigned by the organization.
He told that he had joined the organization at the age of about 16. In the initial phase he joined the force organization, after this he worked through CNM Chetna Manch. In the year 2013, he joined the party platoon committee. In the year 2019, he was made Section Deputy and in 2025 he got the responsibility of the post of DVCM. It took him about 18 years to reach this position.
According to Masa, there are a total of five levels in the Maoist organization from party member to Central Committee (CC). The highest post among these is that of the Politburo, which is formed on the basis of the core members of the Central Committee.
He also told that after the year 2019, it was his responsibility to provide military training to all PLJ (People’s Liberation Guerrilla) associated with the organization. He used to provide training related to military strategy and discipline in the Mobile Military School. Masa clarified that he never took part in any encounter and weapons in the organization were given only as per work and responsibility. At present, after returning to the mainstream under the rehabilitation policy, Masa Baldev is now living a normal life and is appealing to the youth to leave the path of violence and follow the path of education and development.
